Empty Thoughts for Real Life

"Empty Thoughts for Real Life" is a minimalist piece that "takes a visual approach to language in a manner consistent with [Zellen's] other works." -- From I Love E-Poetry

Experiencing the Work

Visitors interact with the work largely through moving a cursor around the space and clicking graphic elements, many of which actively move around the screen themselves. It is not possible to navigate the work with a keyboard, voice controls, or other similar alternatives to a mouse. Some parts of the work require visitors to wait for a period of time before advancing. The text that appears is rasterized and unavailable to screen reading programs or similar tools. The work consists largely of bright colors that can change quickly when visitors interact with them, and differentiating between certain colors is necessary to understand part of the work's content. Manipulating some elements of the work requires a fine level of cursor control.
