The NEXT is an initiative of the Electronic Literature Organization, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization funded primarily by memberships. Though The NEXT receives some support from the organization, it thrives on materials, funds, and labor provided by patrons who value the cultural history forged by artists and scholars of born-digital literature and other forms of experimental media.
Donate to The NEXT
Materials
Born-digital literature artists and scholars are invited to donate their works or works from their personal collections to The NEXT so that we can preserve and make them freely available to future generations of readers.
Works published on physical media like 5.25-inch and 3.5-inch floppy disks and CD-ROMS, digital files, personal papers, both print and digital, along with performance videos, documentation of events and other records providing information about the history and provenance of the works are welcome.
We also invite donations of legacy computers, particularly those that may have been used in the production of born-digital art.
Funds
Patrons are encouraged to support The NEXT by providing funds for the continued development and maintenance of works in its many collections, as well as the curatorial activities aimed at showcasing its rare and exciting treasures.
A special sponsorship opportunity makes it possible to support an exhibition space for one or more of the 3000 works held in The NEXT for $25 for each, annually.
For more information, visit our Patronage space.
Labor
Scholars are needed to lend their expertise in born-digital literature and other forms of media to assist with researching works, augmenting metadata with verified information, and writing copy; content producers, with developing videos, animations, visualizations, and images for The NEXT for new entries and collections.
Contribute to preserving the past and present for future generations of readers.
