"Nikuko" is a video produced at the Experimental Television Center, during Alan Sondheim's residency there. It was created with Foofwa d'Imobilite (dancer), Azure Carter (spectator), and Alan Sondheim (sound and "conductor"). Much of Sondheim's work with d'Imobilite has drawn on the phenomenon of digital avatars to interrogate the human form and its limitations.
Sondheim writes, "This work continues to resonate with me . . . Setup with a number of cameras switched by voice; Foofwa pirouetting as fast as possible (beginning), changing towards the end; music pre-recorded electric guitar improvisation."
