"Scalpoema" is a kinetic poem that reworks the dedication of the fictional memoir Memórias Póstumas de Brás Cubas by Machado de Assis. Alvarez transforms the original dedication (to the first worms to gnaw on the speaker's corpse) into his own poetic reflection on time and what lies beyond.
