Paranoico arcoíris

"Paranoico arcoíris" is "based on a simple idea: the reader should never remain motionless before a poetic text. Their participation is needed for the reading to happen, their constant movement is the only way for the text to become a reality. It is the reader who sets the rhythm, who keeps the text alive to understand its meaning, without his gaze, the poem disappears. In the same way, the poem tells us about commitment and its constant need for recreation." -- José Aburto

Experiencing the Work

Visitors access the poem through the web (Ruffle). By moving the mouse around a dark screen, the text of the poem is revealed as an erratic rainbow effect traces the cursor. The rainbow effect cycles quickly through different colors with varying levels of contrast. Viewing much of the poem at once is quite difficult, as this rainbow effect fades quickly and the words disappear. In order to keep reading the poem, visitors will need to move the cursor rapidly around the screen with repetitive movements. The poem is displayed by the Ruffle.js script and its text is unavailable to screen reader software.
