Pao Lien and the Cave Dragon, Wu

Regarding "Pao Lien and the Cave Dragon, Wu," Luesebrink writes, "In my section of the [MY MILLENNIUM] project, I imagined a space where readers could contribute their own stories to The Magic Millennial Carpet ride. The reader was encouraged to imagine that this flying carpet could take them to any period of time, from, say 2000 BC to perhaps 3000 years into the future. 'Pao Lien and the Cave Dragon, Wu' illustrates the Magic Millennial Carpet taking us back to 2000 BC in China. The tale that unfolds there is a compilation of folk elelments from ancient Chinese fairy stories and universal legendstock of the era. The piece combines text, image, sound, Flash panels, outside links, and a structural space to create a magic carpet for the new nillennium. At the time of writing this work, I was teaching Folklore. I was struck with the similarity and stunning overlaps in very ancient folk material worldwide." -- Marjorie Luesebrink
