Beware of the RaGhost

"Beware of the RaGhost" features a game and a user-controlled sound board all inspired by a set of words taken from Millie Niss's "Challenge 1 - Erewhon 2.0" in 2009.

Experiencing the Work

Visitors navigate various games, poems, and animations and are presented with passages of text, sounds, and moving graphics. Sometimes, the visitor will be asked to engage with the work such as in the rearrangement of nonsense poems. At other times, they may wish to linger and listen to a narrator read off sections of poetry or see an animation through completion. The work requires cursor movement input and dragging, and is not navigable by keyboard or similar non-mouse tools. The work contains a handful of spaces that can be visited in any order. Text and graphics twirl, stretch, bounce, glide, and tear each other apart. Many textual elements in both serif and sans-serif fonts move frequently about the screen, and some appear only briefly. The work's text is not available to screen reading software or similar tools due to being rasterized and, in the case of copies preserved with Conifer, unavailable due to browser emulation. The work's textual monsters and other elements sometimes make sudden sounds.
