TY - ART TI - Tech-illa Sunrise: un/a remix AU - Salvador Barajas AB - "The text for this project is 'cited' at length from an experimental performance essay by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer & Guillermo Gomez Pena post-Mexican 'double agents compiling illegal knowledge.' I have remixed/looped/post-produced their ideas in the style of a first generation hypertext with a de-colonial lime twist." -- From Salvador Barajas

"After nearly ten years, the themes dealt with in 'Tech-illa Sunrise: Un/A Remix' are still as relevant as ever. Salvador Barajas examines the issues of borders, identities, and xenophobia through the lens of technology. The website is a collage of archival images, texts and elements taken from popular culture. The diversity of Chicano identity is also explored and takes shape within the text. Theuser navigates in a frenetic environment, reminiscent of the beginnings of cyberspace. Moving from hyperlink to hyperlink, the threat becomes palpable as 'warning' signs abound and alert the user of a mysterious virus that will not only attack their computer but also their preconceived ideas." -- From ELMCIP, 2018 C3 - Web PY - 2009 LA - English M3 - Hypertext, Essay, Remix UR - https://the-next.eliterature.org/works/2289/0/0/ DB - The NEXT Y2 - 2025-04-04 ER -
